Position Overview
Position: Children and Young People Practitioner / Nudge Education Practitioner. Can you help us on our mission to ensure every child can live a Life Worth Living? We are Nudge Education – working to support children who are chronically disengaged from education so they can receive life-changing support, guidance, and mentoring. We are looking for compassionate, innovative practitioners who can create a safe environment and form strong connections with young people, inspiring them to rediscover the value of education.
In this role, you will work on a 1:1 basis (or 2:1 with the support of an additional practitioner) outside the traditional classroom setting. Your knowledge of the local community and environment will be key in designing successful interventions, always putting the needs of the student first. You will benefit from a strong support network including peer support and access to regional hubs for resources and advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Design interventions to support academic engagement and meet agreed provision targets.
- Report on student progress, behavioural presentation, and safeguarding concerns.
- Carry out risk assessments of environments and activities to ensure student safety.
- Attend multi‑agency meetings as required.
- Keep up to date with trends in education and current official guidance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a teaching qualification (e.g. PTLLS or higher).
- Safeguarding qualification obtained within the last 12 months.
- Qualification in a therapeutic discipline (such as counselling, mental health first aid, or CBT).
- Training in de‑escalation techniques within the last 12 months (e.g. CPI, Team Teach or similar).
- Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (or in comparable fields like youth work or counselling).
- Enhanced DBS certificate from the last three months or registration on the update service.
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with young people facing crises.
- Intermediate IT skills.
- Specialist knowledge of learning disabilities and conditions such as ADHD, PDA, or ASD.
- Awareness of the National Curriculum and its relevant key stages.
- Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle.
