Position Overview
The Marketing Strategy Manager / Segment Marketing Manager is responsible for initiating, developing, leading, and managing marketing strategies, positioning, initiatives, and programs that support overall company objectives. This role focuses on executing data‐driven marketing initiatives for defined customer segments (e.g., brokers, clients, consumers, providers) in close partnership with Sales, Product Development, and Communications, with an emphasis on customer insight, brand stewardship, and measurable impacts such as ROI.
Key Responsibilities
- Market & Segment Strategy:
- Develop and lead marketing strategies and initiatives tailored to specific customer segments.
- Identify and analyze segment expectations, needs, behaviors, and attitudes using primary and secondary research.
- Establish short- and long-term goals, competitive positioning, and market segment strategies.
- Identify market trends and opportunities to ensure the organization remains competitive in a changing marketplace.
- Program & Campaign Development:
- Design, manage, and execute integrated marketing and advertising campaigns across digital, print, direct mail, and email channels.
- Partner with internal creative teams and external agencies to deliver effective, on-brand campaigns.
- Develop and deploy programs that expand distribution channels, increase business opportunities, and improve retention within assigned segments.
- Measure and report on marketing program performance, including ROI and key success metrics.
- Brand & Customer Experience:
- Serve as a central resource for brand-related information and guidance.
- Coordinate with business partners to create and deploy brand-building programs.
- Educate internal stakeholders on brand standards, opportunities, and best practices.
- Utilize customer insights to develop initiatives that consistently deliver on the brand promise.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Communications Managers to ensure consistent positioning, messaging, and promotion.
- Partner with Sales and business teams to execute programs on the field and account-specific level.
- Guide cross-functional project teams and influence stakeholders to align marketing programs with segment needs.
- Identify and prioritize market-specific communication based on research and competitive positioning.
- Performance Measurement & Leadership:
- Establish goals and performance targets to measure the success of segment marketing programs.
- Lead initiatives aligning products, services, and marketing efforts with market needs.
- Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while adjusting to changing priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum of 4 years of marketing experience, preferably in customer-focused or segment-based marketing.
- At least 4 years of experience in program management and leadership, including influencing strategic direction and change.
- Advanced understanding of marketing concepts, theories, and best practices.
- Proven ability to solve complex problems, manage multiple projects, and plan strategically.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Advanced presentation skills with experience communicating to diverse audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to leverage multiple channels and tailor messaging to targeted audiences.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
