Position Overview
As a Digital Marketing Specialist, you will develop and execute localized digital marketing strategies to boost visibility and engagement in five specific Texas cities. This role demands strong SEO expertise tailored to local and regional search, extensive hands-on experience with WordPress, and the ability to manage and optimize websites for location-specific performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibilities: Develop and implement local SEO strategies to improve rankings in city-specific searches (e.g., "service + city name" keywords), Google Maps/Local Pack visibility, and organic traffic from targeted Texas markets.
- Manage and maintain WordPress-based websites, including theme customization, plugin configuration (e.g., local SEO plugins like Yoast Local or Rank Math), content updates, schema markup for local business, and performance/speed optimization.
- Optimize the website(s) for multiple Texas geographies: create and manage location-specific landing pages, implement city-targeted content, handle local citations/NAP consistency, and ensure proper geo-targeting in Google Search Console.
- Conduct in-depth keyword research focused on local intent, on-page optimization, technical SEO audits, and local link-building strategies.
- Set up and manage Google Business Profiles for each target city, monitor reviews, and integrate them with website efforts.
- Analyze performance using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, or Ahrefs, with a focus on city-level traffic sources, conversions, and ROI.
- Create and oversee content marketing initiatives (blogs, service pages, city-specific guides) aligned with local SEO best practices.
- Monitor key local metrics such as local pack rankings, click-through rates from maps, and foot traffic/conversions attributed to organic search.
- Stay current on local search algorithm changes, Texas-specific consumer trends, and emerging tools.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience Required: 5+ years of professional experience in digital marketing, with proven success in local/regional SEO campaigns.
- Extensive hands-on WordPress experience including building, customizing, and maintaining sites with local SEO plugins, schema implementation, and mobile/responsive optimization.
- Demonstrated local SEO expertise with measurable results (e.g., ranking improvements for city-specific keywords or increased local pack visibility).
- Experience managing websites optimized for multiple locations/cities including location pages, geo-targeted content, and citation management.
- Relevant certifications such as Google Analytics Individual Qualification (GAIQ), Google Ads Search Certification (with local campaign experience), SEMrush SEO Toolkit or Local SEO Certification, Yoast SEO Academy (Local SEO module), and HubSpot Inbound Marketing or Content Marketing Certification; proficiency with tools like BrightLocal, Moz Local, Whitespark, and Google Business Profile.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable local marketing strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-location businesses or franchises in Texas or similar regional markets.
- Knowledge of Texas-specific consumer behavior and search trends in major cities (e.g., Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth).
- Familiarity with review management platforms such as Birdeye or Podium and citation building.
- Basic understanding of paid local advertising, including Google Local Services Ads and PPC geo-targeting, to complement organic efforts.
- Experience with WooCommerce or other e-commerce integrations, if applicable.
