Job Description

Position Overview

This role supports the modernization and redesign of the Utilization Management department by leveraging data analytics to extract value from information. The candidate will develop data visualizations and operational dashboards in PowerBI to enable data‐driven decision making for the UM leadership team and related clinical partners. This position is designed for an experienced professional working remotely within the greater Baltimore metropolitan area, with periodic visits to a CareFirst location for meetings, training, or other business-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides healthcare analytics support to generate insights through dashboards, metrics, or reports for UM solutions.
  • Acts as a thought partner with business leads to perform proactive and reactive analysis for key stakeholders.
  • Develops and presents meaningful reports and analyses for the UM leadership team and related stakeholders.
  • Monitors key performance indicators and balanced scorecards to aid in improved decision making.
  • Supports the development of analytical tools and models that drive healthcare strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field OR an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with business intelligence tools, data analytics, or database management systems.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Certified Business Intelligence Professional or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical complexities for business stakeholders, learn operational processes, think creatively, and meet established deadlines while delivering excellent customer service. Proficiency in BI software such as PowerBI, Qlik, or Tableau is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating dashboards to support internal productivity reporting and external KPI reporting.
  • Familiarity with utilization management from a payer perspective.
  • Understanding of UM processes and industry standards with proven experience in designing and maintaining operational dashboards in PowerBI.
  • Technical knowledge of Guiding Care, Facets, and other key systems, along with strong collaboration skills with clinical and cross-functional teams.
