Job Description

Position Overview

The Product Development Engineer is a key member of the K&N Product Development team located in RIVERSIDE, CA. In this role, you will work across multiple facets of research and development—ensuring that products such as air filters, intake kits, and accessories are highly functional, cost efficient, and designed with ease of manufacturing in mind.Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000/year. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and design K&N products including air filters, intake kits, and accessories.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Automotive Development to assess project feasibility and priorities.
  • Work with Product Managers and Intake Kit Technicians to define project specifications and design attributes.
  • Perform accurate product testing and validation, and prepare formal test reports evaluating new technologies.
  • Exhibit excellent mechanical, fabrication, computer, and communication skills, while managing projects both independently and within a team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience in automotive engineering.
  • Strong understanding of automobile engine compartments and the design of induction systems.
  • Experience with K&N's Business Management System.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3-D CAD software and experience in designing both fabricated and molded products.
  • Familiarity with 2D product drawings at OE levels (ASME Y14.5-2009).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of product design principles, machining, various manufacturing methods, mold design, prototyping, and testing/validation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for data management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to work well in both team and independent settings.
