Job Description

Position Overview

As a Data Center Telecom Lead Technician based in Northern Virginia, you will supervise installation crews by providing on‐site direction and leadership to complete projects within established scope, quality, time, and budget requirements. You will be responsible for both management and installation production duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review all contract and project documents to minimize company risk.
  • Plan, manage, and execute projects.
  • Ensure the highest quality installation.
  • Submit a Daily Report every day detailing:
    • Work completed against the internal project schedule.
    • Hours logged per task line.
    • Materials used during the day.
    • Any delays (with photographic backup if applicable).
    • Other issues or items that need addressing.
    • Adherence to the daily procedure outlined on the report.
  • Manage Material:
    • Update the site material inventory daily and submit weekly reports.
    • Coordinate material deliveries with the Superintendent.
    • Verify delivered materials against the packing slip, BOM, and internal PO before sign-off.
    • Provide packing slips to the Accounts Payable Manager.
  • Conduct and submit a weekly Toolbox Talk to the Assistant PM.
  • Manage and maintain all company tools and equipment.
  • Train and mentor field staff in proper installation methods and best practices.
  • Identify needs for RFIs and change orders.
  • Direct and monitor construction activities ensuring adherence to scope, code, schedule, budget, and quality standards while making necessary adjustments.
  • Perform physical work as required.
  • Represent the company in project meetings.
  • Oversee the Safety Program to ensure all safety standards are met and maintained.
  • Coordinate with customers and other trades to eliminate obstacles and prevent interference with job layouts.
  • Ensure that all inspections pass on the first attempt.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in low voltage construction with proven methods and use of equipment.
  • Combination of training, education, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling and the ability to follow standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
  • Professional conduct and appearance.
  • Strong performance management skills and extensive knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and general computer use.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and work under time pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive team player with strong persuasive and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in commercial low voltage systems installation and field management.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to handle practical challenges in varied situations.
  • Familiarity with team-building techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BICSI Technician certification preferred.
