Job Description
Position Overview
The Director of Sales and Marketing will accomplish business development activities by researching and developing marketing opportunities to meet and exceed marketing measures and sales goals, planning annual sales promotions, implementing sales plans, and managing marketing staff. The candidate will be responsible for understanding, protecting, and communicating the Glen Ivy brand essence to external guests and increasing overall brand awareness in the local and regional community, as well as supporting brand identity through the distribution of branding materials. This high-energy and detail-oriented role also involves overseeing the marketing department and external professional consultants, defining processes, meeting deadlines, and driving projects forward as a self-starter and hard worker.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the Central Reservations Department.
- Achieves marketing and sales operational objectives by contributing marketing and sales information and recommendations to annual business plans, preparing and completing action plans, implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, resolving problems, identifying trends, and implementing system improvements and changes.
- Meets marketing and sales financial goals by forecasting collateral production requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions, as well as creating, directing, and managing the annual production schedule for related collateral production work orders.
- Accomplishes marketing and sales objectives by planning annual advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs; developing field sales action plans; and providing quality review for timely and error-free internal and external collateral.
- Collaborates with multiple departments—including central reservations, operations, spa services, and finance—to ensure that marketing projects and campaigns align with business objectives and meet critical deadlines.
- Identifies marketing opportunities by analyzing guest requirements, market demographics, competitor strengths and weaknesses, and projected business to establish targeted market share.
- Recruits and manages internal employees and external contractors, including coordinating with external vendors and consultants, to ensure effective marketing efforts and adherence to job expectations and compensation guidelines.
- Improves product marketability and profitability by researching market opportunities, enhancing product packaging, and coordinating new product development.
- Collects, analyzes, and summarizes data and trends to provide actionable business information while protecting confidential information.
- Updates job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, networking, and organization participation.
- Manages internal communications of the brand image and property-wide marketing events, including the production and distribution of the quarterly employee newsletter.
- Oversees the schedule of Guest Program related activities, instructors, and other promotional events, ensuring alignment with marketing objectives.
- Participates in project management functions, agenda coordination, meeting and special event planning, as well as networking, advertising, public relations, and community events to foster positive brand connections and increase revenue.
- Supervises production personnel—including external consultants—to achieve labor efficiency, quality, and productivity while ensuring adherence to corporate quality standards and continuous improvement processes.
- Assumes additional duties as needed and collaborates as a team member to build a culture of strong communication and collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- License(s): N/A
- Education: High School diploma; College degree in Marketing or Business preferred.
- Experience Required: 3 to 5 years of supervisory/managing experience in Marketing, Sales, Advertising, Administrative, or related fields within a service-related, high volume, regional, corporate environment. Experience in spa/hospitality industries is preferred.
- Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with intermediate graphic skills; experience with WordPress, Adobe Photoshop 7, Adobe Illustrator 10, and Adobe Acrobat (experience with MS Visio is a plus); working knowledge of social media marketing, Google Analytics, email metrics, web development, user experience design, content management systems, and related technologies; strong negotiation skills, especially in contract negotiations; and demonstrated abilities in Financial Planning and Strategy, Marketing Concepts, Positioning, People Management, Sales Planning, Competitive Analysis, understanding the Guest and Glen Ivy Experience, Service Promotion Development, Client Relationships, and Creative Services.
