Our Dallas Fort Worth region is looking for a Staff Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice. Key Responsibilities
- Perform, lead, and oversee all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis, loading trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout, swing angle, damper recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, and wire selection.
- Prepare specifications for construction, hardware, and material for high voltage overhead transmission lines (HV OH T-Line); develop structure design and hardware selection; and supervise field installation.
- Prepare construction drawings and cost estimates for high voltage overhead transmission lines.
- Provide input for and adhere to project schedules and budgets.
- Provide instruction and guidance to less experienced staff members.
- Develop into a leadership role, eventually leading teams of engineers and serving as the primary interface between Burns & McDonnell engineers and clients.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience with routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities (completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification: A professional certification, EIT, and/or a professional engineer licensure is strongly desired.
- Experience in 69kV to 500kV line design and a working knowledge of Power Line system-based programs (i.e., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.).
- Experience as the technical lead on projects and performing quality reviews.
