Position Overview

Our SDG team in East Aurora, NY is looking for a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer who will work closely with design engineering during pre-production and production phases to ensure hardware designs are compatible with welding and manufacturing capabilities. You will report directly to the Sr. Performance Leader - Manufacturing Engineering and work onsite in Location: Buffalo, NY with a Schedule: 7am - 3pm, M-F. In this role, you will develop efficient welding processes, prepare tooling and gauging requirements, create and validate CNC programs, and drive continuous improvements to enhance quality, cost, and delivery performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement welding processes that meet quality and cost objectives.
  • Team with Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly & Test and other departments to optimize product designs and fixturing for weldability.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors/machine shops to identify sources of supply for manufacturing the design.
  • Work with the proposal group to provide process, time estimates, and fixturing needs.
  • Develop and maintain accurate process documentation and CNC programs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Drive process improvements using lean principles and advanced welding technologies.
  • Train and mentor tool designers and manufacturing engineers.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree + 10 years of relevant experience preferred; equivalent industry experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Must have experience with electron beam and orbital welding processes.
  • Knowledge of welding processes, tooling design, and quality control methods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming and process documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace industry experience preferred.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred.
