Job Description

Position Overview

Aerospace Systems Safety Engineer at Hornet Acquisition Co LLC in Anaheim, CA. Signia Aerospace is a global, integrated provider of high‐performance systems and specialized components for the aerospace industry. Following a recent acquisition in Anaheim, CA, the Signia Mission Systems companies are expanding. You will join a manufacturing facility of over 200 employees in a hybrid role (3 onsite, 2 remote days) and be responsible for conducting safety assessments and analysis to ensure the reliability and safety of our systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform civil safety assessments in accordance with ARP 4761 and MIL-STD-882E, including Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA), System Safety Assessments (SSA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Common Mode Analyses to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software engineering teams to identify safety requirements and review design documentation for safety-critical equipment.
  • Counsel and train less experienced safety engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities, ensuring accountability for work commitments and deliverables.
  • Proactively identify areas for safety enhancements and contribute to initiatives that improve overall system safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace systems safety engineering or a related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in safety analysis techniques and tools (e.g., FHA, FMEA, FTA).
  • Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail and effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in team-oriented environments.
  • Experience with safety management systems (SMS) and familiarity with relevant software tools is a plus.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional) is desirable.

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $90,000 – $150,000 depending on experience and education.
