Position Overview
About Pivot Bio: Fueled by an innovative drive and deep expertise in microbiology, genomics, crop nutrition and agriculture, Pivot Bio is pioneering game-changing advances in fertilizer technology. Our first commercial product harnesses naturally-occurring microbes, modern gene editing and advanced application technologies to provide nitrogen to crops. This role leads the Application R&D team within the Pivot Bio Product Success Center—involving development of application methods for both pre-commercial and commercial products—and works across multi-disciplinary teams at our Hazelwood, MO Center of Excellence to develop, launch and support our expanding portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Application R&D team within the Product Success Center in St. Louis, MO, including an application/formulation lab, seed treatment application facility, and microbial lab.
- Provide direct leadership and influence to a growing team at the Hazelwood MO Center of Excellence.
- Collaborate with internal teams (product development, fermentation/formulation, microbial development, and commercial) to drive product quality and performance.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with external stakeholders such as equipment manufacturers, technology companies, academia, and third‐party researchers.
- Deliver written and oral updates, summaries, and recommendations on application product development toward commercialization.
- Serve as the technical expert on product-related inquiries, providing support through reports, training events, plot tours, and customer field visits.
- Participate in location tours and events to communicate best practices, product stewardship, and application techniques.
Required Qualifications
- MS degree required (Ph.D. preferred) in chemistry, biology, agronomy, seed science, plant physiology, soil science, or related fields with at least 8 years of experience.
- A minimum of 6 years' work experience in crop production agronomy is preferred.
- Proven expertise in the research and development of biological technologies for on-seed, liquid, or dry application methods.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Hiring Compensation Range: $121,000-$152,000 USD
