Position Overview

J.Crew, a well-established New York-based American heritage apparel retailer renowned for timeless quality and commitment to Diversity, Equity, Belonging & Sustainability, is seeking a Strategy Manager for Madewell. In this highly visible role, you will partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive business transformation, shape brand strategy, and unlock new growth opportunities using data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Analysis: Lead critical strategic initiatives by conducting market, competitor, and customer research, and developing data-driven strategies aligned to company goals.
  • Business Development: Identify and size whitespace opportunities, build data-backed business cases in partnership with Finance, and expand J.Crew’s total addressable market.
  • Data & Insights: Analyze both quantitative and qualitative data, develop performance dashboards, track KPIs, and translate complex insights into actionable strategies for senior leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with merchandising, planning, marketing, and finance teams to ensure alignment on strategic objectives and deliverables.
  • Executive Insights & Communication: Prepare and present strategic updates, recommendations, and performance analyses to senior executives and board members.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitive positioning, and market shifts to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Quarterly Business Review: Define, track, and review key performance indicators, and facilitate business reviews with actionable plans.
  • Leadership Support: Provide strategic thought partnership to leadership, ensuring effective execution of business strategies and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in strategy, management consulting, or a related role within the apparel or consumer goods industry.
  • Strong critical thinking, quantitative analysis, and problem-solving skills; adept at translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint) and experience preparing executive-level presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across different teams and levels.
  • Keen understanding of market trends, competitive dynamics, and the apparel industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA is a plus.
  • Experience with financial modeling is beneficial.

Salary Range: $120,800.00 - $151,000.00. Compensation is determined based on internal equity, geographic location, job-related skills, and experience.
