Job Description

Position Overview

The Data Analyst supports Innovation & Community Engagement behavioral health initiatives by collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting data related to the mental health co-response, jail navigator program, jail release coordination, DHOT (Detroit Homeless Outreach Team), and mobile outreach services. This position plays a critical role in evaluating program impact, identifying trends, ensuring data integrity, and supporting data-informed decision-making for internal teams, funders, and community partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, enter, and maintain datasets from multiple programs including co-response, jail navigator, jail discharge follow-up, homeless outreach, and mobile clinic mental health services.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of incoming data from internal teams and external partners.
  • Maintain and update data logs, tracking tools, and create dashboards.
  • Perform routine data audits to identify and resolve inconsistencies, duplicates, missing values, and formatting errors.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance protocols to enhance data reliability.
  • Conduct descriptive and comparative analysis to assess program outcomes, service trends, and population characteristics.
  • Generate routine and ad-hoc reports for leadership, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Develop visualizations and summaries using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools to communicate findings.
  • Work closely with program managers, outreach staff, and partner agencies to align data collection methods and ensure timely submissions.
  • Support integration of data from law enforcement, jails, HMIS, behavioral health systems, and other partner platforms.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other confidentiality and data security requirements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of data sources, definitions, and analytic methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data entry, analysis, or evaluation within health, human services, or justice settings.
  • Proficiency in Excel, and at least one data analysis or visualization tool (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SPSS, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple datasets with confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with behavioral health, homelessness, or criminal justice data.
  • Familiarity with systems such as HMIS, EHRs, jail management platforms, or law enforcement databases.
  • Knowledge of data-sharing practices, especially in cross-sector public service initiatives.
