Key Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice, including operating diagnostic equipment, removing staples, changing wound dressings, obtaining cultures, administering non-intravenous medication, performing simple specimen collection (noninvasive techniques and venipuncture or capillary blood draws), performing EKGs, and conducting quality control checks on equipment.
  • Rooms patients according to policy and procedures and prepares them for examination.
  • Records patient care documentation accurately and in a timely manner in the medical record.
  • Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians, and in compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Respects patient confidentiality at all times while providing quality customer service.
  • Organizes exam and treatment rooms by stocking, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments.
  • Practices standard infection control precautions.
  • Performs telephone and in-person screening for intake and gathering of information without exercising clinical judgment.
  • Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment. (Medical Assistants hired prior to certification are expected to perform at the same level as certified MAs.)
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at the time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Proven good communication and customer service skills.
  • Requirement to complete Tuberculosis screening and provide proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis through lab confirmation, vaccination records, or a doctor’s diagnosis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Bilingual skills.
