Job Description

Position Overview

The Road Commission for Oakland County – the largest county road agency in Michigan – is seeking talented Civil Engineers at all levels of experience. You may work in various specialized areas to ensure safe travel throughout the county. Our positions offer compensation ranging from $61,000.00 through $112,000.00 (commensurate with experience), with additional pay through overtime and upon obtaining a Professional Engineer License. Some positions are part of a collective bargaining unit subject to an existing agreement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Road Design Engineering: New road design, expansion, and reconstruction projects.
  • Road Construction Engineering: Building new roads and facilitating road expansions.
  • Permit Engineering: Partnering with development teams across the county.
  • Traffic Safety Engineering: Implementing traffic signage and pavement markings.
  • Signal Systems Engineering: Managing traffic flow and signal coordination.
  • Road and Highway Maintenance: Maintaining and prolonging the life of road infrastructure through measures like spot resurfacing, overlays, and slab replacement.

Required Qualifications

  • • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Michigan driver's license.
  • • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • • FE or PE license is preferred.
