Job Description
Position Overview
This is a hybrid role (1-2 days per week in our NYC office) for an Associate, Business Development within the Sales department at Convergent Energy and Power. Focused on energy storage and solar-plus-storage projects, you will be generating and nurturing qualified leads, engaging in proactive outreach, and supporting the overall sales process. This individual contributor position also involves informal mentorship of junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- (60%) Identify and generate qualified leads in new energy storage and solar-plus-storage markets to support revenue targets.
- (60%) Complete due diligence by mining organizations, maps, social networks, and other resources to pinpoint appropriate prospects.
- (60%) Conduct daily outreach through cold calls, emails, and LinkedIn messages to communicate Convergent’s value proposition.
- (60%) Stay current on Convergent, industry competitors, and energy market trends while monitoring and reporting on outreach activities and pipeline progress.
- (60%) Maintain relationships with prospects and early-stage clients, support proposal and presentation preparations, and keep the internal CRM updated.
- (40%) Lead discovery calls with customers, shadow senior sales professionals, and actively support discovery, proposal, and contracting processes.
- (40%) Assist with sales and marketing initiatives, including tradeshows, targeted campaigns, and team trainings.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in sales, recruiting, or customer-facing roles.
- Proven success in selling, presenting, and persuading in professional settings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills with a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- A proactive problem solver eager to identify creative solutions.
- Willingness to learn about distributed generation, energy markets, and electrical systems.
- Alignment with Convergent’s mission, values, and a strong interest in the Clean Energy Transition.
- Availability for up to 15% travel for client meetings, team events, and company-wide meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational background.
- Experience with Sandler Sales Training and CRM systems.

- Compensation: Base Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 per year + Uncapped Commission. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
