Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and test telecommunication systems, including VoIP, SIP trunks, audiovisual, and data circuits.
  • Maintain and forecast data and voice cabling needs for the City.
  • Perform cable terminations (fiber, Cat6, coax) and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Coordinate contractual maintenance and service issues with multiple vendors.
  • Locate cable in response to Miss Utilities notices and clear tickets.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues related to voice, data, and cloud-based communication systems.
  • Support integration and maintenance of Audio Visual and cloud-hosted communication platforms (e.g., Webex, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or other UCaaS solutions).
  • Perform high-level diagnostics on network equipment to identify and resolve network or performance issues.
  • Utilize network monitoring and ticketing tools to track system performance and service requests.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and service activities.
  • Ensure all installations comply with safety regulations, building codes, and company standards.
  • Provide end-user support and technical training when needed.
  • Collaborate with engineers and vendors to support upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
  • Manage and maintain IT Room's to include Preventative Maintenance and UPS monitoring and maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in installing and configuring telecommunication systems.
  • Knowledge of VoIP, SIP trunks, audiovisual, and data circuits.
  • Ability to perform cable terminations and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Experience troubleshooting connectivity issues related to voice, data, and cloud-based communication systems.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and ticketing tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-hosted communication platforms such as Webex, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom.
  • Background in providing end-user support and technical training.
  • Experience managing small projects and working with subcontractors.
