In this role, you will join Whisper Aero as an experienced engineering technician onsite in Nashville, TN. You will focus on assembling prototype engine assemblies, building and operating ground testing equipment, and overseeing rapid prototyping equipment while troubleshooting and developing creative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble prototype air-moving products and develop assembly instructions.
  • Manage, maintain, and operate 3D printers and rapid prototyping equipment.
  • Assist in the setup of test stations and conduct tests with data acquisition.
  • Develop and implement wiring layouts for ground tests and vehicle systems.
  • Operate basic metal machining tools.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires an associates degree or technical degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience as an electronics, test, or assembly technician. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Expert skill with general hand tools, precision measurement tools, and electronics fabrication.
  • Demonstrated experience operating a manual mill and a manual lathe.
  • Experience with FDM 3D printing and printer operation.
  • Experience building high performance assemblies such as engines.
  • Familiarity with using test equipment (multimeters, accelerometers, pressure sensors).
  • Respect for safety including experience with high voltage electrical systems and electromechanical spinning machinery, while maintaining a safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience balancing rotating machinery.
  • Experience in the R&D space.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD programs.
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python for basic data analysis.
  • Proficiency with Arduino or Raspberry Pi programming.
  • Experience working with composites.
  • Experience with mold or model making.
