Entry-Level Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing

Position Overview

Join Intertek in Miami, FL as an Entry-Level Field Technician specializing in Construction Materials Testing. In this role, you will support our Construction Services Department by performing testing, project-specific observations, and site assessments under supervision. Key Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of testing, project-specific observations and site assessments under direct supervision and/or according to detailed procedures.
• Operates testing equipment to conduct tests (e.g., soil, concrete) and provides assessment of data through reporting.
• Utilizes drawings, specifications, and diagrams to perform tasks accurately.
• Uses specific methods to observe site activities and execute testing tasks.
• Makes detailed observations and provides limited interpretation of results.
• Maintains detailed documentation and records of test results.
• Operates a calculator to compute mathematical test results.
• Communicates effectively with clients and project teams.
• Adheres to safety practices and policies to ensure your safety and that of others on site.

Required Qualifications

• Basic Math, calculator, and computer skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
• Capable of reading and interpreting work plans and technical drawings.
• Willingness to work off shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends as required.
• Valid Driver's License with a reliable driving record.
• Physical ability to lift, move, push, or pull 30–50 pounds (occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance), and to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to kneel, squat, walk, stand for long periods, and climb occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in field or construction materials testing and inspections.
• No prior experience required – in-house training provided!
• Relevant industry certifications are a plus, including:
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Grade I
• FDOT - 346
• FDOT Earthwork Level I & II
• FDOT Asphalt Paving Level I & II
