We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Power Generation Engineer/Project Manager with a passion for technical leadership, mentoring, and driving innovation in the power generation industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full scope project activities including engineering design, surveys, facility assessments, construction administration, site walks, and field service.
  • Provide technical design, oversight, and hands-on leadership while mentoring junior engineers and analyzing project control systems for power and utility projects.
  • Develop and execute strategic actions aligned with both the Mechanical team and GPD Group goals.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs, translate them into project scopes, and build strong, lasting relationships.
  • Oversee administrative tasks including workflow management, scheduling, quality assurance, and ensuring project documents remain within scope and budget.

Required Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of design experience in power/energy generation and power delivery utilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven experience managing design engineers and documentation for project work.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents, project scope, technical plans, and specifications.
  • Skilled in value engineering to provide cost-saving, installation, operational, and performance improvement recommendations.
  • Extensive experience with process piping design, P&ID’s, natural gas systems, various power generation designs (simple cycle, combined cycle, balance of plant), steam/high temperature system design, and thermal stress analysis.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical and Plumbing Codes, NFPA, Industrial Ventilation Codes, and ASME Standards (ASME B.31).
  • Ability to develop design standards, details, templates and provide input on instrumentation/control systems, material selections, and constructability reviews.
  • Excellent communication, professional writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Willingness to travel for building surveys, assessments, and construction administration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE License is preferred.
  • Experience mentoring and empowering engineers early in their career.
  • A demonstrated servant leadership approach within a collaborative environment.
