Job Description

Position Overview

The Controlled Manufacturing Area (CMA) Operator I assembles, inspects, and packages different components and devices according to written specifications and manufacturing instructions. This role requires careful attention to quality, safety, and regulatory standards while working in a controlled manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follows written instructions to hand assemble and inspect a variety of manufacturing components and devices.
  • Boxes, packages, and labels complete sets and products in the processing flow.
  • Sets up, maintains, and operates machinery.
  • Handles tools such as razor blades, hole punchers, and tabletop grinders; may use a microscope or magnification during inspection and assembly.
  • Uses test equipment (calipers, pin gauges, meter sticks, meter scales, micrometers) for product inspection.
  • Maintains accurate documentation reporting any quality problems or findings.
  • Works at different workstations following prescribed safety and quality requirements.
  • Adheres to the Quality Management System and its processes to meet ISO and/or other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Reading Technical Documentation – Reads, interprets, and follows technical documentation outlining specifications and manufacturing instructions.
  • Manual Dexterity – Makes coordinated hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects and handles tools to complete quality work.
  • Detail Oriented – Inspects assembled products thoroughly to identify quality problems or non-conformances.
  • Deductive Reasoning – Demonstrates sound judgment when following written instructions and adhering to regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Operational Adaptability & Precision – Sets up and maintains machinery by adjusting controls quickly and accurately in fast-paced situations.

  • Hard to Very Hard Physical Work – Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods; capable of moving/lifting 50+ pounds and managing frequent exposure to moderate/loud noise.
  • Visual Acuity – Must meet the screening requirements of 20/40 vision (with or without correction).
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
