Staff Software Engineer, Claude Developer Platform (Full Stack)

Position Overview

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society. Our quickly growing team of researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders is building beneficial AI systems. In this role, you will build a world-class developer experience for the Anthropic API — accelerating developers from idea to deployment and leveraging Claude to enhance prompt generation and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

• Build out the frontend and backend to help developers bring their applications to production.
• Partner with teams to integrate new product features into the developer console in an intuitive way.
• Use product sense to propose and implement improvements to the API developer experience.
• Collaborate with researchers to understand new model capabilities and design unique products that maximize API usage.

Required Qualifications

• 7-10+ years building production full-stack software with a focus on usability.
• Strong communication skills and user empathy.
• Expertise in modern web development stacks (React, Next.js, etc.).
• Demonstrated strong product mindset and iterative product development.
• Startup experience and building products from zero to one.
• Experience building APIs and/or developer products for external developers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with React and other frontend frameworks.
• Experience with REST APIs.
• Experience building products specifically for developers.
