Product Designer (Industrial & Mechanical Design)

Position Overview
We are a fast-growing product development and R&D company transforming innovative ideas into real-world products spanning consumer and industrial devices. As a Product Designer (Industrial & Mechanical Design), you will blend the creativity of industrial design with the technical rigor of mechanical engineering to develop products from concept to production. You will create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, BOMs, and photorealistic renderings while collaborating closely with electronics engineers and prototyping specialists to ensure designs are manufacturable, safe, and optimized for production.
Compensation: $60,000–$120,000 per year (depending on experience and expertise).
Location: Ruston, Louisiana (preferred, relocation & housing assistance provided) with a hybrid remote option in Houston, TX.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop consumer and industrial products from concept to production.
- Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and BOMs to support prototyping and manufacturing.
- Develop photorealistic renderings and presentation materials for client and internal reviews.
- Collaborate with electronics engineers to integrate mechanical and electronic components.
- Ensure designs meet manufacturability, safety, durability, and user experience requirements.
- Work with prototyping teams to validate designs through methods like 3D printing and machining.
- Facilitate the transition to mass production with vendor communication and design-for-manufacturing improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Proven ability to create 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and BOMs.
- Experience in producing photorealistic renderings and presentation materials.
- Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with electronics engineers and prototyping teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of product design experience in consumer and/or industrial products.
- Strong expertise in mechanical engineering and product design.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes (injection molding, silicone rubber molding, CNC machining, etc.).
- Proficiency in CAD modeling software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent.
- Experience building prototypes using 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Industrial design background with a strong eye for aesthetics and usability.
- Experience in consumer electronics or integrated electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with rendering/visualization tools and knowledge of materials science and ergonomics.
