Job Description
Position Overview
Book of the Month is seeking a Data Analyst to contribute to the Supply Chain team’s ongoing initiatives. You will assist with Inventory Management and Forecasting while gaining exposure to other areas of Supply Chain within a lean DTC ecommerce company. Over time, you may support the execution, monitoring, quality assurance, and reporting of operational functions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, data-driven, and eager to solve complex problems across varied operational disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally to forecast and anticipate inventory and demand planning requirements for membership, books, paper, non-book inventory, and new product launches.
- Update and monitor the daily demand forecast across multiple monthly cycles to optimize stock levels, reduce obsolescence, inform labor planning, and support service level goals.
- Utilize SQL, Python, or similar programming languages to build automation tools that improve forecasting accuracy, member experience, and overall supply chain efficiency.
- Proactively monitor POs, inventory levels, forecast accuracy, inventory health, and other KPIs to avert stockouts and ensure timely replenishment.
- Communicate with stakeholders regarding potential stockouts, preorder and backorder statuses, and inbound inventory delays.
- Develop and maintain inventory strategies including cycle counts, reconciliations, and root cause analysis of variances.
- Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to leadership on inventory levels, forecast accuracy, backorder rates, and other relevant KPIs.
- Lead the integrated planning process (S&OP) to align supply, demand, and operational capacity across functions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, supply chain, engineering, finance, or math (strongly preferred).
- 1 - 3 years of professional experience in a Data or Analytics role requiring quantitative analysis and problem solving.
- Proficiency in Excel and SQL.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data with demonstrated knowledge in data science, supply chain, finance, and/or logistics.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to collaborate in a dynamic environment.
- Proactive, resourceful, and highly organized with keen attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Snowflake and/or Redshift.
- Experience with Python, R, or similar programming languages.
- Experience building reports and dashboards using a BI tool.
- Interest in commercial fiction and/or ecommerce.
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: $75,000 - $110,000
