Position Overview
This position is located in the Technical Review Section of the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department at the City of Oklahoma City. Engineering Assistant II is a full proficiency, para‑professional role focused on designing, administering, and supervising major engineering functions – including plan review, construction plan coordination, and project documentation. Compensation: Hourly Rate: $32.17 - $49.17. A higher rate may be considered based on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate plans, specifications, and construction for city projects.
- Review consultant-prepared plans and project specifications.
- Prepare documents, reports, and project specifications.
- Monitor funding allocations and coordinate construction communications.
- Supervise technical staff as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of standards in the assigned engineering section.
- Skill in supervising technical personnel.
- Skill in devising solutions to engineering problems.
- Skill in retaining and recalling information.
- Proficiency in project research, design, and coordination.
- Ability to convey technical information verbally and in writing.
- Proven ability to complete projects within specified time periods.
- Ability to work independently and willingness to travel.
- Willingness to assume responsibility for decisions and work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in design, plan review, and project specifications of civil engineering plans.
- Experience in review, preparation, or interpretation of final plats and legal descriptions.
- Knowledge of FEMA rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of paving and drainage design standards and requirements.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a civil engineering, storm sewer, or technical review field.
