Engineering Assistant II - City

Position Overview

This position is located in the Technical Review Section of the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department at the City of Oklahoma City. Engineering Assistant II is a full proficiency, para‑professional role focused on designing, administering, and supervising major engineering functions – including plan review, construction plan coordination, and project documentation. Compensation: Hourly Rate: $32.17 - $49.17. A higher rate may be considered based on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and coordinate plans, specifications, and construction for city projects.
• Review consultant-prepared plans and project specifications.
• Prepare documents, reports, and project specifications.
• Monitor funding allocations and coordinate construction communications.
• Supervise technical staff as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of standards in the assigned engineering section.
• Skill in supervising technical personnel.
• Skill in devising solutions to engineering problems.
• Skill in retaining and recalling information.
• Proficiency in project research, design, and coordination.
• Ability to convey technical information verbally and in writing.
• Proven ability to complete projects within specified time periods.
• Ability to work independently and willingness to travel.
• Willingness to assume responsibility for decisions and work performed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in design, plan review, and project specifications of civil engineering plans.
• Experience in review, preparation, or interpretation of final plats and legal descriptions.
• Knowledge of FEMA rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of paving and drainage design standards and requirements.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a civil engineering, storm sewer, or technical review field.
