Job Description
Position Overview
Our Digital Infrastructure Group has been at the forefront of creating a new generation of communication infrastructure for over 40 years. We specialize in network development, complete telecom life cycle solutions, datacenter retrofits and modernization, and full datacenter buildouts. The Mission Critical Field Engineer - Northern Virginia will manage internal and subcontractor crews on datacenter construction and upgrade projects ranging from minor BMS/EPMS upgrades to major multidisciplinary initiatives. This role is based in Northern Virginia and plays a critical role in ensuring project feasibility, safety, and high quality construction execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support internal and subcontractor teams on mission critical renovation/upgrade projects involving BMS, EPMS, mechanical, electrical, and structural scopes of work
- Maintain a safe working environment and champion our safety culture
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to ensure project feasibility and compliance with design specifications
- Support project management teams with planning, schedule management, coordination, and project closeout
- Provide technical direction and support for field crews during daily construction activities
- Deliver construction and schedule updates to the project management team
- Assist with coordination of client submittals, site logistics plans, and as-built documentation
- Coordinate RFIs and maintain the required logs
- Attend site visits and bid walks with clients and subcontractors
- Collaborate with estimating and project teams to support RFQs and bid submittals
- Maintain accurate records of project progress including daily logs, reports, and issue documentation
- Promote positive customer relationships
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree: in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related STEM field (for recent graduates from 5/2023 forward)
- Solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, structural, and architectural trades as well as industrial construction methods
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail with a solution-oriented approach and solid problem-solving skills
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites
- Must be able to: pass a background check and possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to work for any US Employer without current or future visa sponsorship
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Familiarity with construction management software and tools as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations
