Compensation: $131,188 - $183,664 - $236,139

Key Responsibilities

• Work with Application Development & Support teams as a data science and AI subject matter expert and architect to develop scalable AI solutions.
• Design and develop predictive and prescriptive analytics for various use cases such as drug spend forecasting, insurance plan performance optimization, medication fraud/waste/abuse detection and prevention, preventive care, and personalized treatment planning.
• Fine-tune and customize LLMs to simplify manual processes in healthcare systems, e.g., prior authorization rule extraction from guideline documents and data exchange file checking.
• Collaborate with domain experts to validate results and model performance.
• Design, develop, and test code at all layers to ensure end-to-end functionality of AI systems.
• Create and maintain system design documentation.
• Deploy and integrate AI systems into the production environment.
• Build and maintain workflow frameworks for AI performance monitoring and automated feedback loops for continuous improvement.
• Initiate and drive projects to completion independently, assuming full end-to-end accountability for deliverables.
• Promote and enable the adoption of technical advancements in Data Science to elevate practices at MedImpact.
• Act as a thought partner to senior leaders, providing recommendations and evangelizing data-driven business decisions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on large-scale strategic projects across departments.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced team members, leading code/design reviews as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) with 10+ years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including 6 years as a subject matter expert in related areas.
• 3+ years in a technical leadership role leading data science and AI engineering teams.
• Proven track record of leading AI solutions from ideation through implementation, production, and value realization.
• 2+ years of experience developing predictive and prescriptive analytics in pharmacy benefit management.
• Familiarity with healthcare data and systems, including knowledge of prior authorization and pharmacy benefit adjudication processes.
• Extensive experience with databases, SQL, and programming languages such as Python or Java.
• Thorough understanding of data science methodologies, the software development life cycle, and agile development best practices.
• Deep understanding of AI/ML/NLP principles, including generative models and advanced topics like transformers, LLMs, and text embeddings.
• Proficiency with deep learning frameworks (e.g., Pytorch, TensorFlow) and tools such as MLP, LangChain, and HuggingFace.
• Exposure to AI automation platforms and reinforcement learning, alongside supervised and unsupervised machine learning paradigms.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively to develop innovative AI solutions.
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Solid business acumen with an understanding of market dynamics, competition, and strategic alignment.
• Reasoning Ability: Capable of interpreting complex technical instructions, defining problems, collecting data, and drawing valid conclusions.
• Mathematical Skills: Proficient with probability, statistical inference, and other mathematical concepts needed for analysis and design.
• Language Skills: Adept at reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex scientific, technical, and legal documents.
