Position Overview
Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world's top-recognized brands, is actively seeking an Area Engineer to join our Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team supporting Building & Construction in Houston, Texas. Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a US-based leader in construction assurance, testing, and inspection for civil and commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of assignments involving independent evaluations using standard geotechnical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, with the ability to make minor modifications as needed.
- Interpret and review laboratory and field test report results, project field conditions, and inspection findings to make informed recommendations.
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports in accordance with project specifications and scope of work.
- Assign tasks to local and remote staff, and train, develop, and mentor technical team members as applicable.
- Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for task assignments while reviewing recommendations with designated Principal Consultants and/or the Chief Engineer.
- Engage with clients, maintain and leverage relationships, and develop new project opportunities, including attending client site meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited engineering/ABET school in Civil Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Texas P.E. License or the ability to obtain one in the state of employment and adjacent states as needed.
- Proficiency in GeoStudio, APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, Midas, SLIDE, Settle3D, MSEW, and other geotechnical engineering analysis software.
- Requirement to obtain Principal Consultant status internally (CS: 5+ years experience/Geo: 8+ years experience).
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams nationally and internationally, including off shifts and overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited engineering/ABET school in Geotechnical Engineering.
