Job Description

Position Overview

Senior Data Scientist at SFL Scientific, a Deloitte Business within the Strategy & Transactions practice, plays a pivotal role in guiding clients through transformational initiatives. You will define data strategy, drive the development of next‐generation AI tools and solutions, and work alongside interdisciplinary teams to solve complex R&D challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Guide clients with high autonomy in AI strategy and development, from exploratory data analysis to building, validating, and deploying models into production.
  • Lead client initiatives by providing thought leadership, ensuring long-term maintenance of AI/ML solutions, and driving strategic objectives.
  • Research and implement novel machine learning approaches including advanced training techniques, network & hardware optimization.
  • Validate AI models through rigorous code reviews, unit testing, and integration tests.
  • Support project prioritization to maximize business impact and align model development with client objectives.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, scientists, project managers, and business teams to ensure delivery aligns with defined goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant STEM field (Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience in AI/ML algorithm development using core data science languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, PyTorch) and data analysis techniques such as NLP, time-series analysis, or computer vision.
  • 3+ years of experience applying traditional machine learning and deep learning techniques (e.g., CNNs, RNNs, GANs) including model tuning and performance validation in production environments.
  • 3+ years of experience deploying and optimizing ML models using tools like Kubernetes, Docker, TensorRT/Triton, RAPIDs, Kubeflow, and MLflow.
  • 3+ years of experience leveraging cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to deploy AI/ML workloads.
  • Ability to live within commuting distance to one of Deloitte's consulting offices and travel approximately 10% as required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this role due to specific client engagement needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a client-facing, consulting environment.
  • 2+ years of experience leading project or client engagement teams for complex AI data science solutions.
  • 1+ year of experience with LLM/GenAI use cases and developing RAG solutions, tools, and services (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, MCP).
  • 1+ year of experience with AWS Sagemaker or AWS ML Studio.

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: The wage range for this role is $107,600 to $198,400, based on various factors including skill set, experience, and qualifications. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
