Job Description

Position Overview

In this role, Medical Assistants perform both administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider. You will work closely with physicians to deliver direct patient care while facilitating communication among all care providers, patients, and office staff. The role also offers a full-time, 40-hour-per-week paid training program that blends classroom and clinical education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and take them to exam rooms
  • Obtain vital signs and assist with medical procedures
  • Answer phones and perform clerical & computer work
  • Collect lab specimens and perform phlebotomy
  • Schedule appointments and manage billing and coding
  • Maintain electronic medical records (EMR) and handle faxing tasks
  • Calculate and administer medications & vaccinations
  • Complete Disability & Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork
  • Adhere to safety and infection guidelines
  • Participate in a comprehensive training program covering Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Medication Math, Pharmacology, and Clinical and Administrative Skills

Required Qualifications

  • For Medical Assistant: Graduate of a medical assistant program or at least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • For Medical Assistant Trainee: High School Diploma; no experience required as comprehensive on-the-job training is provided
