Position Overview
Insight Global is looking for a talented and experienced Professional Mechanical Engineer to join our consulting engineering team. The successful candidate will have 5-10 years of experience and strong project management skills, with a deep understanding of industrial or commercial mechanical engineering systems. You will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical engineering projects, ensuring quality and client satisfaction from start to finish. Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple mechanical engineering projects including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and piping systems through all phases: design, documentation, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Lead and coordinate internal project teams, collaborating with electrical, structural, and other disciplines.
- Prepare specifications, technical drawings, calculations, and cost estimates, ensuring adherence to applicable codes and best practices.
- Mentor and provide technical oversight for junior staff and designers.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients, stakeholders, and contractors; address project issues and provide timely updates.
- Perform quality assurance/quality control reviews on designs and documents.
- Ensure project delivery within established budgets and schedules.
- Conduct site visits for surveys, inspections, and field verification as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience in an industrial or commercial consulting setting.
- Demonstrated project management expertise.
- Proficiency in design and modeling software (such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
- Strong technical skills in mechanical systems for buildings or industrial facilities.
- Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.
- Willingness to travel for project work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sustainable design, LEED projects, or energy analysis.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and construction administration.
- Background in value engineering or cost optimization.
