Job Description

Position Overview

The Secondary Grade Band 9-12 Instructional Teacher (Job Title: SY 23-24 HealthCare Science) is a highly qualified, certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. This role provides an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for students by incorporating school and community/family partnerships, a rigorous curriculum, and a data-driven, student-centered instructional model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implements instructional strategies that stimulate learning and increase student engagement.
  • Creates instructional resources to meet the varying needs of students.
  • Takes ownership of students’ academic progress and attendance by communicating high expectations and active interest in achievement.
  • Prepares students for high-stakes standardized tests and analyzes student data to prescribe remediation or enrichment.
  • Adapts course content according to prescribed policies using both asynchronous and synchronous tools and submits grades ensuring academic integrity.
  • Organizes social and educational activities for students and families including virtual clubs, outings, and marketing events.
  • Travels to testing sites to proctor state exams and participates in committees as required.
  • Provides timely referrals, maintains contact with support systems, and collaborates with school personnel for student management.
  • Delivers synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities, manages documentation, and implements feedback for instructional improvement.
  • Ensures grading accuracy by keeping grades updated in Canvas/Infinite Campus and providing timely feedback on assignments.
  • Maintains professional communication with parents and staff, responds to emails within 24 hours, and updates contact logs promptly.
  • Attends required meetings, student-specific sessions, Parent University Sessions, and professional development events.
  • Supports collaboration with colleagues, completes all required trainings, stays logged onto virtual platforms, and adheres to district policies.
  • Builds positive relationships with parents, students, and colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education AND two (2) years of experience teaching in grades 9-12 OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates/Licenses: GA PSC Education Certificate in the required content area; Gifted certification/endorsement and Advanced Placement (AP) training when applicable; Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) requirements; Clear Fingerprint/Background Check required.
  • Demonstrates strong pedagogical knowledge, familiarity with state content standards, and effective communication skills with school personnel, parents, and district staff.
  • Proficient in managing documentation, using computers, online curriculum/tools, and maintaining a professional home office with reliable high-speed internet.
  • Valid driver’s license and availability of private transportation with the ability to travel up to 25% as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in Education, Course Content, Psychology, or a related field of study.
  • Gifted, ESOL, or SE certifications/endorsements; Advanced Placement (AP) certificate; TKES/LKES credentialed.
  • Proficient/Advanced data analysis skills and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar capacity.
  • Google Certifications and advanced skills in G Suite for Education along with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with online educational tools (e.g., Canvas, Infinite Campus, Zoom) and previous experience as an online educator is highly desirable.
  • Bi-lingual abilities are a plus.
