Position Overview
Recruitment Number: 25-186TO. Information Technology Specialist IV (Telecom Branch) in Honolulu, Oahu.
In this role, you will be responsible for comprehensive IT network and security analysis, planning, design, implementation, and support. You will work on configuring, tuning, and troubleshooting various telecom systems – including phone systems, IP phones, VPNs, network access control systems, switches, VoIP routers, and wireless controllers – ensuring robust and secure IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct IT network and security analysis and planning.
- Configure, tune, and troubleshoot telecom devices including phone systems and IP phones.
- Manage activities related to design, build, conversion, implementation, support, documentation, and procurement of IT systems.
- Perform technical troubleshooting and provide support for various telecommunications and network systems.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Specialized Experience: A minimum of two and one-half years of progressively responsible professional work in IT involving systems analysis, design, programming, security, access management, database management, telecommunications, or network infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear and comprehensive reports, interpret complex written material, and solve complex problems logically and systematically.
- Substitution options available through advanced degrees (e.g., partial or complete master's, or Ph.D.) as specified.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing or supporting network systems for processing data, voice, radio, or video.
- Familiarity with technologies such as network switching and routing, Voice over IP (VoIP), firewalls, load balancers, network access control systems, copper and fiber cabling, VPN concentrators, Windows and Linux servers, and VMware.
