Position Overview

We are seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer based in Kansas City, MO to work under the guidance of experienced engineers performing analysis and design of transportation structures. This role, scheduled to begin in May 2026, offers an opportunity to build a rewarding engineering career while contributing to projects that transform communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis and design of transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and sign structures under the supervision of experienced engineers.
  • Utilize computer programs to model and solve engineering problems.
  • Prepare design calculations, sketches, plan details, and project reports that meet industry standards.
  • Visit job sites and inspect in-service structures.
  • Complete work assignments within budget and schedule.
  • Develop strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
  • Build knowledge of transportation project development and delivery.
  • Maintain technical learning on the path to obtaining professional licenses.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License to visit project sites and client locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Understanding of basic ACI, AISC, and ASCE design codes and specifications.
  • Previous internship experience in a related field.
  • Successful completion of the FE exam.
  • Master’s degree in structural engineering.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO design specifications and DOT practices.
