Position Overview
The IT Manager is responsible for verifying the IT landscape supports the property business goals safely, securely, and effectively. This integral role demonstrates key information technology and computer science skills which enhance escalated support for property IT infrastructure and hardware, including repairs, installations, and maintenance of systems for designated property/properties. The IT Manager assists the Area IT Manager to identify and forecast future technology needs and provides input into budgetary proposals for capital expenditures. A key responsibility of the IT Manager is to collaborate with various technology vendors to validate that property IT solutions meet the needs of guests, associates, owners, and property leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage technology needs within budget targets.
- Assist and/or provide input to IT Leadership for capital expenditures (CAPEX) and department operating budget based on anticipated IT projects and property requirements, including anticipated ROI on technology investments.
- Analyze and assess the current IT landscape on property and prepare estimates for necessary technology upgrades and improvements to meet business needs.
- Evaluate and verify compliance with appropriate Marriott International Policies (MIPs) across all areas of responsibility.
- Implement solutions as directed to resolve IT discrepancies.
- Order required equipment related to personal computers, telecommunications, local servers and networks, and process vendor invoices.
- Conduct periodic inventories of applications and hardware; prepare reports for property management as requested.
- Analyze and validate that technology assets are secured; document and escalate all identified security risks in accordance with applicable MIP.
- Comply with technology-related vendor contracts.
- Write and present proposals, analyses, project plans, and cost models in written and/or oral formats.
- Provide customer service to property leadership and associates, and respond to inquiries from customers, vendors, and peer groups.
- Provide detailed status reports as requested, coordinate third-party vendor management, and offer escalation support.
- Ensure client technology needs are met and assist in disaster recovery and business continuity as it relates to technology.
- Provide technical guidance for assigned locations and escalate support for all Marriott approved technology solutions through the Tier Escalation process.
- Facilitate escalation and guidance regarding guest and associate internet access requirements.
- Image desktops, install new software applications, apply patches, map drives to appropriate servers and/or networks.
- Move, add, or change PCs and peripherals, migrating data when necessary.
- Perform routine desktop backups as scheduled or directed and provide end-user support.
- Confirm technology security (e.g., encryption, patch deployment) and ensure compliance with quarterly audit measures.
- Support unit infrastructure (servers, switches, routers, APs, etc.) and engage appropriate MI IT and/or vendor resources.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a secure server environment, including performing server backups and routine preventative maintenance.
- Provide project support for corporate, regional, and property initiatives.
- Execute IT hotel projects and manage vendor installations.
- Conduct quarterly and annual IT audits and provide plans and recommendations to remediate any identified deficiencies.
- Provide guidance on compliance with Marriott IT and Security Standards.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with 2-4 years’ experience in Information Technology or a related professional area; OR a 2-year degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related major with 2 years’ experience; OR a 4-year degree from an accredited university or college in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related major.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior hospitality system-related experience; professional certifications are desired.
