Position Overview

The Senior Director of Procurement - Healthcare at Summit Healthcare Mgmt is responsible for leading the organization’s procurement, sourcing, and supply chain strategy. This position directs efforts to optimize supply chain efficiency, develop robust procurement strategies, and negotiate key contracts to support enterprise-wide initiatives. Location: Franklin, TN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner to clinical, administrative, IT, and facilities leadership to drive enterprise‑wide procurement strategies that balance cost, quality, service levels, and clinical outcomes.
  • Develop and execute the annual enterprise procurement strategy and operating plan aligned with organizational goals, approved budgets, growth initiatives, and cost‑reduction targets.
  • Lead strategic sourcing activities across clinical, non‑clinical, IT, and capital categories, including renewal planning, RFx execution, sole‑source evaluations, and ongoing supplier negotiations.
  • Design and execute negotiation strategies that maximize total value, including cost savings, quality improvements, service performance, contract flexibility, and risk mitigation.
  • Identify and deliver measurable savings opportunities through supplier consolidation, supplier optimization, standardization initiatives, and service enhancements.
  • Oversee vendor contract lifecycle management to ensure timely renewals, regulatory compliance, and alignment with enterprise strategies.
  • Manage existing vendor contract expiration dates and coordinate with key stakeholders regarding renewals or non-renewals.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier partnerships to support organizational priorities, innovation initiatives, and growth objectives.
  • Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of the CAPEX sourcing function in collaboration with Facilities, Operations, and Finance.
  • Engage suppliers to define initiatives supporting the organization’s strategies and goals.
  • Champion continuous improvement of procurement, sourcing, and procure‑to‑pay (P2P) processes, including technology implementations and system enhancements.
  • Develop, implement, and standardize procurement policies, procedures, templates, and governance models across the enterprise.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing procurement team through talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, and professional development.
  • Oversee procurement communications to ensure clear, consistent engagement with internal stakeholders and suppliers regarding strategy and performance expectations.
  • Utilize data, analytics, and reporting to monitor spend, supplier performance, savings realization, and compliance, providing insights to executive leadership.
  • Manage the procurement department operating budget and support enterprise leaders with budget planning, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Support organizational growth initiatives by partnering on new facilities, acquisitions, and start‑up supply chain needs.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership on technology sourcing, vendor selection, and special initiatives.
  • Partner with Outpatient Services leadership to support clinic openings, including FF&E sourcing and related projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Experience Required: Seven or more years of experience managing RFx processes and negotiating product and service agreements.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and language related to supplier and vendor agreements.
  • Knowledge of healthcare supply chain terminology.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand standard business contract terms, identify risks, and develop effective negotiating and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experience working with information technology and proficiency in software packages including Excel and Word.
  • Experience Required: Five or more years of supervisory/management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous behavioral healthcare experience preferred.
  • CPA or CHFP certification is a plus.
