Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Data Analyst who will play a key role in supporting the strategic vision and mission of the School of Education. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration, this role is responsible for designing, implementing, integrating, maintaining, and ensuring accessibility of the resources that enable effective and reliable data analytics and business intelligence. The successful candidate will develop, integrate, and deliver reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions for senior leadership, with a focus on financial planning, revenue modeling, and enrollment management decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced data analysis to inform strategic planning and evaluate initiative effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute strategies for timely data delivery and analysis on School initiatives.
  • Conceptualize, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and automated self-service data tools.
  • Utilize statistical techniques, predictive modeling, visualization, and forecasting on large and complex data sets.
  • Manage data acquisition, cleansing, transformation, and integration to ensure quality and integrity.
  • Present analysis results in actionable formats (reports, charts, graphs, presentations) to support budgeting, academic program reviews, compliance reporting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to develop data governance policies and optimize data collection and storage processes.
  • Lead special projects, providing strategic input and presenting non-technical key findings to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least five years of relevant data analysis experience (additional education may substitute per the JHU equivalency formula).
  • Proficiency with business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Experience with SQL, statistical software (SAS, SPSS, R), and data manipulation techniques.
  • Advanced skills in developing and tuning complex queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a related discipline.
  • Three years of work experience, preferably within a higher education academic environment.
  • Experience automating report generation using VBA or comparable programming methods.
  • Proven ability to present non-technical key findings to senior leadership.
