Job Description

Position Overview

This position is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, supporting, and reporting on server and network environments to ensure that services are available to all users while pursuing an uptime of 99.99+%. Candidate must be able to work Day, Swing, or Graveyard shift, including holidays and weekends as scheduled. Location: Bellevue. Compensation: $17-$23 per hour. Duration: 4 Months (Temporary to Permanent).

Key Responsibilities

  • Detects error/problematic messages that signal malfunctions in server and/or network by monitoring display screens, checking alert emails, and communicating with 3rd party vendors or business partners.
  • Provides DNS support including initial setting, updates, backups, deletions, and restorations.
  • Extracts logs to support System Engineer/Advanced System Engineer for troubleshooting.
  • Offers network support such as applying IP blocks on firewalls/servers and conducting connectivity tests using commands like ping, tracert, lookup, and latency tests.
  • Prepares requested reports for customers and business partners.
  • Handles hardware replacements including HDD, RAM, RAID Battery, NIC, etc.
  • Responds to system errors following designated procedures.
  • Manages storage setup for server operations including volume expansion/deletion.
  • Assists with physical server setups including mounting and cabling.
  • Mounts network gear for switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Conducts condition checks of the data center.
  • Issues maintenance announcements to internal and external users.
  • Utilizes CLI (Command Line Interface) to perform tasks.
  • Troubleshoots and assists customers with remediation steps when issues are detected, such as using the IMAP repair tool and restarting services/servers.
  • Updates documentation to record new equipment installations and configuration changes.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance and other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience Required: Demonstrated ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and support server and network environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and text editors (preferably Vi).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and communicate effectively with various departments.
  • Adept at reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical information and regulatory documentation.
  • Physical capability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds and perform tasks that require standing, walking, and manual handling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Writing and verbal communication skills in Business level Japanese are preferred but not required.
