Job Description
Position Overview
The Patient Care Tech works under the direction of a Registered Nurse at Nursing B2 Wing in Hinsdale, IL. In this role, you provide basic nursing care, assist with technical procedures, and support patient well-being across a rotating schedule of (3) 12‑hour shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), including weekends and holidays. This is a full‑time position (72 hours per pay period) with benefit eligibility and comes with a $3,000 Sign‑On Bonus (pro‑rated for positions less than full‑time). Compensation is determined by job-specific requirements, experience, internal pay equity, and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Exemplify the RML REACH culture by demonstrating respect, excellence, appreciation, concern, and honor in all interactions with patients, families, and co‑workers.
- Provide technical nursing care up to the validated level under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including assistance with personal hygiene care, activities of daily living, and post‑mortem care.
- Obtain and record vital signs, patient intake/output data, and perform common bedside tests (e.g. blood glucose monitoring) accurately in Meditech.
- Support respiratory care needs, perform simple procedures (non‑sterile dressing changes), and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and isolation practices.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and provide supportive care, including orienting patients and families to the unit and handling patient belongings.
- Maintain confidentiality, adhere to HIPAA guidelines, and document patient information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participate in continuing education, staff meetings, and committees, while ensuring a safe work environment by reporting unsafe conditions and following safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent with successful completion of Patient Care Technician (PCT) competencies.
- Must provide documented evidence of completing a State‑certified nursing assistant education program or have passed the nursing assistant competency test, including at least 40 hours of supervised clinical experience.
- Ability to transport patients, carry supplies, and perform physical tasks, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compliance with HIPAA and all relevant healthcare policies and safety standards.
