Job Description

Position Overview

The Social Media Producer is a key member of the ABC News Social Team, responsible for producing and distributing content across all social platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and Threads. The producer will create and post social content across several ABC News brand accounts, including ABC News, This Week, ABC News Politics, ABC News Live and more.

This candidate will collaborate with the digital and broadcast teams to optimize both linear content and original digital content across all social media platforms. They should be comfortable working quickly and efficiently across the entire Adobe Creative Cloud Suite – editing videos using Adobe Premiere, creating graphics with Canva and Photoshop, and writing captions using SEO best practices.

In this fast-paced, high-pressure environment, the candidate will demonstrate impeccable judgment and social acumen especially during breaking news situations and when working with talent. A deep knowledge of the competitive news landscape on social and expertise in leveraging social analytics to drive data-based production and publishing strategies are essential. The candidate must also have a demonstrated track record of editorial excellence and be willing to work weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for guiding the voice of ABC News and its various brands on social media, with a strong focus on ABC News Live.
  • Produce engaging content, including graphics and video, for social platforms.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a social media strategy to drive revenue, referral traffic, brand awareness, followers, engagement, and conversion to linear and streaming platforms.
  • Identify new social opportunities while partnering with producers across brands.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing social media accounts for a news organization.
  • Experienced multimedia, cross-platform producer.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adherence to the highest standards of journalism.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Experience working closely with talent.

  • Compensation:Base pay in NYC ranges from $82,000.00 to $109,800.00 per year, subject to internal equity and candidate-specific factors.
  • Bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of thecompensation package.
