Job Description
Position Overview
The junior level process engineer position learns to build technical abilities and master specific technical and project-related items. This role involves development of heat and material balances, use of process simulation software (HYSYS, ProII), and preparation of typical project deliverables such as P&IDs and equipment/instrument datasheets. A Junior Engineer will produce quality products under the mentorship of experienced engineers while learning overall process unit operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with clients and front-line operations staff at operating plants to identify optimization and engineering opportunities and develop them into projects.
- Assist in developing process engineering scope of work and project design basis with clients.
- Interact with project teams to develop and support projects.
- Participate in meetings with clients and project teams to establish project objectives and coordinate or resolve design problems.
- Review detailed project designs for technical accuracy, compliance, and feasibility with governing codes and client requirements.
- Coordinate and communicate with the Resource Manager regarding staffing, development, and training needs.
- Use company software tools to report on work status, forecasting, and project scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a general knowledge of company, client, and industry codes, specifications, and standards.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable engaging with new clients.
- Ability to estimate, schedule, and develop project scope.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Capable of some travel and remote site assignments.
- Applicants must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Experience Required: 0 to 5 years’ professional experience – Oil & Gas preferred
- Able to sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Open to field trips to job sites (local and/or remote).
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualifications: Additional operations and design experience in utilities, pipeline, and product terminals is desired.
- Qualifications: Understanding of typical refinery project front end loading and detailed design phase engineering – a plus.
- Qualifications: Familiarity with multiple refinery process operations, troubleshooting, and small project execution – a plus.
