Position Overview
BW Design Group, in partnership with Barry-Wehmiller, is a fully integrated firm committed to delivering innovative solutions in architecture, engineering, construction, and system integration. As an Entry Level Controls Engineer, you will join one of our 45 US offices and work alongside over 1500 professionals and industry experts. In this role, you will support capital projects by designing, programming, and troubleshooting automated machinery and control systems, while working directly with top clients to drive manufacturing performance and innovation. You will grow your technical abilities in an environment that values leadership, professional development, and a truly human approach to growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply your knowledge of programming methods, electrical design, and engineering problem solving to modern manufacturing practices.
- Design, program, and troubleshoot automated machinery and line control systems.
- Travel to client sites across the country to assist with manufacturing process design, project management, and facility development.
- Create user applications to monitor and control production processes in compliance with industry standards.
- Design control systems that offer instantaneous production feedback, including electrical control panels and PLC programs with human machine interfaces (HMIs).
- Support project teams by applying technical expertise and contributing to the achievement of client goals.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to organize and execute multiple project responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with management, clients, and vendors.
- A willingness to travel for project requirements including installation, start-up activities, trainings, and industry events.
- Education: a bachelor of science in electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, chemical, computer engineering, or an equivalent technical degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Co-op or project experience with electrical engineering and PLC automation applications (preferred)
- Co-op or project experience with semiconductor, data center, pharmaceutical, consumer products, and high-speed environments (preferred)
