Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a Web Application Developer with expertise in PERL CGI development on Linux platforms. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and document dynamic web applications that interact with a SQL backend (Oracle). You will work closely with end users to gather requirements and implement bug fixes and enhancements, ensuring high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain PERL CGI web-based applications that interact with a SQL backend database (Oracle) on an open source platform (Linux).
  • Focus on generating dynamic web content by querying the backend database.
  • Test and document developed code prior to release into production.
  • Meet with end users to gather requirements and details for bugs and enhancements.
  • Implement bug fixes and enhancements as tracked in the Bugzilla system.
  • Conduct code and peer reviews, including quality testing and documentation of modifications.
  • Utilize Git as the source repository for managing code changes.
  • Collaborate with team members to diagnose and resolve application issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related IT field that incorporates software development.
  • Experience Required: 1 year of experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL with a strong understanding of relational databases.
  • Experience Required: 1 year of experience in CGI web-based development using PERL (PHP and Python are acceptable substitutes) on an open source platform (e.g., LAMP stack).
  • Experience Required: 1 year of working knowledge of the Linux operating system, including command line operations and text editing using vi-based editors.
  • Requirements: A valid/clear driver's license is required.
