Job Description

Position Overview

At PayPal, the Transaction Processing and Data Services (TPDS) team powers the backbone of our global payments platform. In this role, you will manage and optimize mission-critical OLTP and transaction processing databases—such as Oracle, Google Spanner, and Google BigTable—while designing and implementing scalable compute infrastructure to support PayPal’s global operations. You will also collaborate with peers to enhance data integrity, security, and overall system efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of scalable systems on platforms like Apache Hadoop, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and SAP HANA.
  • Participate in technical discussions and assist in code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Learn and apply engineering best practices under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Write maintainable and efficient code to support secure and highly available systems.
  • Assist in defining, developing, integrating, testing, documenting, and supporting technical solutions.
  • Support the development of high-performance data pipelines capable of handling large-scale workloads.
  • Collaborate with the data team to analyze datasets, contribute to model building, and create reports and visualizations using Google Cloud tools.
  • Gain hands-on experience deploying large-scale data solutions within an enterprise environment.
  • Follow established project management frameworks and adhere to development processes under supervision.
  • Support the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for databases, applications, tools, and networks.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Compensation: U.S. national annual pay range is $94,000 to $156,200, which may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation), equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, and vision.
