Position Overview
Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant – Full-time in Outpatient Clinics, New Orleans, LA.
As a Medical Assistant, you’re on the front line of care, providing clinical and non‑clinical assistance to physicians, providers, and licensed staff. You help manage patient flow by recording vital signs, preparing equipment, scheduling appointments, handling documentation, and ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for patients. Your approach to patient care—marked by kindness, respect, and empathy—makes a real difference every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical support: measure vital signs, prepare and test equipment, clean and disinfect exam rooms, and assist with patient arrival and departure processes.
- Document and update patient records accurately in the Electronic Medical Record, including laboratory and radiology results.
- Demonstrate professionalism by maintaining patient confidentiality, addressing concerns calmly, and communicating effectively with clinic staff and management.
- Ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols, report hazards, and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide clerical support by managing phone calls, scheduling appointments, collecting and scanning documentation, and coordinating with external facilities.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, or 2 years of related work experience.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- For Certified Medical Assistant roles, certification from one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants – Certified Medical Assistant
- National Healthcareer Association – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- Certified Medical Assistant (NPCE)
