Position Overview
PFM is hiring an Analyst for its San Francisco, California office. This role requires working in the office 3–4 days per week and mandates authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. The position offers a solid foundation for a growth-oriented career in public finance, with opportunities to learn from experienced professionals in municipal finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn about the municipal finance industry and the impact of macroeconomic events on bond pricing.
- Master Excel and DBC Finance® software to analyze financial information and develop financing options for municipal bond structures.
- Manage debt portfolios and identify refinancing opportunities for existing financial advisory clients including local and state governments, as well as public agencies.
- Analyze and produce detailed cash flows for client financing plans using sophisticated debt structuring and financing techniques.
- Assist in creating rating agency scorecards and prepare presentations for rating agency, client communications and marketing.
- Create and deliver presentations, reports, and summaries outlining financial scenarios and recommendations.
- Review financial and legal documents and assist project managers with assembling RFP/RFQ responses.
- Gain direct exposure to a wide array of clients and transactions across the firm’s diverse portfolio.
Required Qualifications
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Compelling interest in building a career in public finance (evidenced through coursework, internships, or other experience).
- Willingness to submit to a quantitative aptitude assessment and background check.
- Passage of the MSRB Series 50 exam within six months of training inception.
