Job Description

Position Overview

General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Co-op for an onsite role. In this hands-on position, you will support mechanical projects across the plant—from root cause analysis and process improvement to tool design and equipment troubleshooting. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Analyze product, process, and technology to determine optimal manufacturing methods
  • Assist in the design and building of tools and equipment, or recommend process improvements
  • Support maintenance personnel in operations and maintenance of specialized equipment
  • Troubleshoot maintenance and equipment issues and coordinate machinery upgrade projects

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Graduation expected between December 2026 and May 2029
  • Able to work full-time (40 hours per week) in a plant environment
  • Enrolled in a co-op program at your university

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in academic, extra-curricular, or service organizations
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities to synthesize complex data
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with effective time management
  • Proactive, resourceful, and inventive in developing innovative solutions
