Medical Assistant 2-Internal Medicine

Position Overview

Inova Health Internal Medicine Ballston is looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant 2 to join the team on a Full-Time, Day Shift basis (Monday – Friday). Inova is consistently ranked as a national healthcare leader in safety, quality, and patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general patient care duties including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, recording vital signs, assisting with walking, specimen collection, phlebotomy, administering injections, and preparing patients for examination.
• Conduct pre-visit planning as indicated by the physician for vulnerable populations.
• Manage clerical tasks such as sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, and organizing medical charts to ensure all necessary information is available for patient encounters.
• Handle environmental responsibilities including setting up instruments, cleaning exam/procedure rooms, restocking supplies, and ensuring proper disposal of expired medications.
• Communicate patient or staff issues to the practice manager, participate in clinic huddles, quality improvement initiatives, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience: 1 year of clinical practice experience
• Certification: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) and Certified Medical Assistant upon start
