Data Analyst

Position Overview

This role supports senior leadership by enabling data-driven decision-making through efficient data transformation, analysis, and reporting. The position is designed to bring deep SQL and Python expertise to improve data processing speed, modernize ETL workflows, and reduce operational strain on the current analytics team. It requires 100% on-site support and is a Contract to Hire opportunity based in Knoxville, TN. Location: Knoxville, TN.

Key Responsibilities

• Support data-driven decision-making by ensuring timely and efficient data movement between databases and analytical tools.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL-based ETL processes, including updating stored procedures and views to enhance query performance.
• Utilize Python to move, transform, and automate the processing of data, reducing overall pipeline execution time.
• Work with Power BI by ensuring data is structured, performant, and reliable for downstream reporting and analytics activities.

Required Qualifications

• Prior experience in higher education or institutional research supporting student or lifecycle-based data.
• Highly proficient in SQL with a strong focus on developing and optimizing ETL processes.
• Highly proficient in Python for data transformation, automation, and workflow optimization.
• Experience with Power BI data connectivity to ensure reliable data consumption by analytics teams.

• Salary: $40.00 - $45.00/hr during the contract period with an expected full-time conversion salary of approximately $90,000.
