Job Description

Position Overview

The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for managing and preparing tax filings, internal tax reporting, and supporting annual activities. Acting as a subject matter expert on tax topics, the role ensures the company remains tax compliant and that financial transactions, policies, and procedures align with organizational objectives and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate brings a positive, customer-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the process and partner with outside tax accountants in the preparation and review of federal and state tax returns.
  • Prepare multi-state sales and use returns, Canadian sales tax returns, and other tax reporting.
  • Compile and provide necessary materials to ensure timely filing of tax returns, audit reporting, and preparation of tax provisions.
  • Develop expertise in the enterprise accounting system to access reporting details for tax purposes.
  • Prepare and post income tax journal entries, maintain monthly tax account roll forwards, and perform account reconciliations.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements affecting monthly, quarterly, and annual filings.
  • Stay current with tax regulations, conduct research, and present technical tax matters to management.
  • Respond to and resolve inquiries, notices, and audits from various tax authorities.
  • Manage multiple projects and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to provide tax guidance on business operations.
  • Participate in additional projects as needed to support department goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience/training) is required.
  • 5+ years of tax experience including sales and use tax, property tax, and federal/state tax returns for a manufacturing business.
  • 2+ years of progressive general accounting experience and 3+ years of ERP experience (preferably Oracle Fusion).
  • Strong tax acumen with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships at all organizational levels and effectively manage changing timelines and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.

  • Compensation: Salary range between $92,819.00 and $153,142.00, with typical pay between $105,000.00 and $133,000.00 plus additional incentives based on business performance.
